Welcome to the Birkdale Lawn Tennis Club website. The aim of this website is to keep you informed, to get you involved and to help you get the most out of playing tennis. The tennis section has a rich program of events and competitions running throughout the year covering a broad spectrum of playing abilities. It also supports four teams in the Southport District League. Tennis-section highlights include:

Social Tournament Highlights
We recently held two Social Tournaments.
An American Tournament and Lunch was held on Sunday, April 20th. 16 players enjoyed a good mornings tennis, not spoilt by the few drops of rain towards the end, just before lunch. The Wimbledon Draw for tickets was held after lunch, and the successful members have been informed.
A Day/Night Tournament to celebrate the completion of the new Floodlights on Courts 3&4, was held on May 2nd.
This was a social event scheduled to include the Official ‘Switch On’ of the lights. S&B Club Chairman, Peter Thomas came along and played, as well as formally switching on the lights mid-tournament, before it went dark. There were 22 assorted players and several spectators, who enjoyed a sunny night, barbecue, and 4 games of rotation handicapped tennis, with a change of partner after every round. It was agreed by everyone that the new lights are nice to play under and an asset to the Club. Matt Harrison and Mary Ball were the eventual winners.

As well as social tennis we have a full range events and club competitions throughout the year including inter-club friendly matches. We also have four teams entered in the Southport and District Senior League. For more details, click play tennis.
